01:31:23kaen_I'm a dev, too. I can help you if you have questions
01:31:59kaen_as far as what "ties the game together", here's the overview:
01:32:05kaen_things get kicked off in main
01:32:17kaen_clients start a clientgame, servers start a servergame
01:32:35kaen_the clientgame essentially controls everything that's running. that's where the main idle() loop is
01:33:05kaen_idle() is used all over the place whenever a class has something to do every frame
01:33:51kaen_clientgame uses a uimanager to control the input events and route them to active UIs
01:34:09kaen_there's a sort of UI stack, so each UI gets a chance to handle events
01:34:37kaen_during actual gameplay (i.e. once you join a server), the server creates a GameType
01:34:51kaen_normal GameType is Bitmatch, then there are the others which you'll see
01:35:12kaen_one thing that confused me in the beginning is that all gameplay stuff actually happens in a gametype
01:35:18kaen_physics, rules, etc
01:35:31kaen_clientgame might be better thought of as ClientApp
01:35:46kaen_and then there's TNL, which is our networking library
01:36:12kaen_the specifics of that are kind of nutty, but the interesting things are in packUpdate, unpackUpdate, and RPCs
01:36:27kaen_that controls what information is transmitted about each game object, and how
01:37:50kaen_so, if you're doing physics-y things, or just generally tweaking gameplay aspects, or game mode rules, you'll want to look at the GameType base class for global rules, and then the subclass of GameType for specific game modes
01:38:19kaen_and tweak idle, pack/unpackupdate, or RPCs to change logic for game objects
