00:24:49raptorIs it odd that I develop faster on OSX by using my linux editors over SSH?
00:38:48fordcarsNo
00:39:38raptorit's like OSX discourages development on purpose

12:49:33raptorgood day!
13:02:22watusimoto1hey there good looking!
13:02:53raptorhi! how did you know I changed my look!
13:02:55raptor?
13:03:09watusimoto1you're a student now...
13:03:18watusimoto1it goes with the territory
13:03:18raptorha
13:03:23raptorin January
13:03:26raptorwills tart
13:03:28raptor*start
13:03:55raptorbut I also had to have my ear drained of blood because I got hit and it swelled right up
13:04:04watusimoto1who is will? and who is his tart?
13:04:06raptorso I look like a wounded soldier with this head wrap
13:04:21watusimoto1why is that? brain transplant?
13:04:35watusimoto1oh right, you mentioned it just up above
13:04:43watusimoto1got hit by what?
13:04:50raptori'm telling people I gave blood but they took it from my head :)
13:05:24watusimoto1ha
13:05:36raptorI woke up one morning with a puffy ear... then 8 days later (Tuesday night) I was rough-housing and smacked the same spot on someone's hip or elbow
13:06:08watusimoto1that sounds bad, actually
13:06:12watusimoto1infection?
13:06:15raptorswelled right up, felt like a giant marble
13:06:24raptorno, apparently it's common with impact injuries
13:06:37watusimoto1but you got the puffiness 8 days prior to the injury
13:06:43raptorah yes
13:06:57watusimoto1the only puffiness that lasts 8 days I know of is infection
13:06:59raptorthat i'm still not completely sure of - but it may have been another impact injury
13:07:11raptorliek in my sleep
13:07:11watusimoto1man, you sure attract these kinds of weird wounds
13:07:24raptorI thought i was bitten by a spider
13:07:39watusimoto1that's the catchall for mysterious injuries
13:07:46raptorhaha, yeah
13:08:37Watusimoto Quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
13:08:57raptorbut it was pretty amazing: he lanced my ear and squeezed out all the junk - there was immediate relief (my head stopped feelign like it was going to explode)
13:09:27raptorapparently if you get multiple injuries like that it can become a permanent condition called 'cauliflour ear'
13:09:39raptorand it may swell up again
13:11:40raptorso new look! just in time to impress all the ladies at college

14:57:31watusimoto1cauliflour ear is one of my favorite boxing injuries!
14:57:56watusimoto1maybe you should just start referring to your self as "lobotomy dave"
14:58:09watusimoto1 is now known as watusimoto
14:58:11watusimotogot it!@
14:58:43raptorhaha
14:58:52raptoryou do boxing?
14:58:55raptor(did?)
14:59:29Raven67854 Quit (Quit: Leaving)
14:59:42watusimotoI did a bit at summer camp
14:59:53watusimotoI learned a couple of punch combos that I still remember
15:00:15watusimotobut no. I did karate when I was older (in my 30s)
15:00:38watusimotothat is a much more effective defense method
15:03:47raptoranything goes in karate
15:04:00raptorunless it's one of the sport-y ones

17:00:44watusimotoThe interesting thing about my karate instructor is a lot of what we were doing was creating enough space/time so that you could run away from an attacker, even if some of the tchniques we learened to do so were potentially fatal if done properly.

18:16:50raptori'm not sure the people at work will survive without me... I have a lot of tribal knowledge :-/
18:33:10raptori've been trying to write as much down, and I will be having several transition meetings a week for a few weeks
18:36:22LordDVG Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
18:36:44watusimotoyou totally hold that place together!
18:36:58raptorI started here as an intern almost 10 years ago
18:38:02raptorwith duct-tape and rubber cement, maybe
18:38:29watusimotoyou are the kind of guy who knows where all the cement has been applied, mostly because you applied it
18:38:54watusimotoit's a problem for England, now
18:39:08raptorhmm?
18:48:55watusimotoaren't you owned by a english concern at the moment?

20:02:43raptori unwrapped my ear - it's puffy!
20:02:52fordcarsNice!
20:02:53raptorbut swollen, which i think (hope) is good
20:03:00raptorbut *not* swollen
20:03:14raptornot swollen anymore, is what i meant to type
20:06:36raptorawww man... it's still bleeding
20:06:44raptornon-stop for 30 hours! argh
20:06:53watusimoto1those spiders are like, totally crazy
20:07:06watusimoto1probaly bit your right through the bandage
20:08:33raptorha
20:08:54raptori wonder how long an incision in the ear is supposed to bleed
20:31:49fordcarsraptor: did you go see a doctor?
20:32:34raptoryes, that's it's bleeding - they cut the ear to remove all the junk from swelling (it was hit)
20:32:45raptor*that's why
20:33:05fordcarsOh wow
21:05:37raptorinteresting news!: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2014/11/certificate-authority-encrypt-entire-web
22:05:16fordcarsWow, facinating
22:07:52fordcarsMaybe Bitfighter.org will use this in the future?
22:08:15raptorand we can make our login pages secure!
22:10:01fordcarsBut why do we normally need to buy certificates?
22:10:34raptorit's to verify that the site's encryption is really from the site
22:10:46fordcarsAnd how is this one going to be free?
22:11:04raptoryou basically ask a 3rd-party to sign your server encryption keys
22:11:12raptorand that adds another layer of security
22:11:39raptorbecause it's a racket and 3rd-party signing doesn't necessarily get you anything
22:12:12raptorand so these guys are going to do it for free for small websites
22:12:18fordcarsOhhh
22:12:40fordcarsAnd they are going to ask Web browsers to allow their certificate?
22:12:47Invisible has joined
22:12:59raptorto make a statement - "the internet is less secure because we have this ridiculous certificate system that costs so much and forces people just use unsecured HTTP anyways"
22:13:05raptorwell yes
22:13:18fordcarsOkok
22:13:22raptorbut since mozilla is one of the browsers, they instantly get 1/3 of the internet to accept them
22:13:37raptorsince mozilla is backing this move
22:13:57fordcarsThat is cool, maybe we will finally be able to sell Bitfighter merchandise
22:14:28raptorwe could handle credit-card transactions!
22:14:47fordcarsYes!
22:14:53fordcarsIce cream fund!
22:15:07raptormmmm... mint cookies and cream
22:15:26fordcarsmmmmm
22:44:21raptorfordcars: is OSX trying to lock all 3rd-party development tools out of its system?
22:44:33fordcarsProbably
22:44:53raptorI keep reading all the problems CMake has with newer OSX versions because of SDK changes, relocations, etc.
22:45:19fordcarsI bet they soon might not allow native code
22:45:25fordcarsOnly Swift haha
22:45:25raptorhaha, waht
22:45:52fordcarsI liked Mac in the PPC age
22:46:06fordcarsNot that I knew anything technical back then
22:46:15raptorwhat on earth is swift
22:46:30raptordid they just come out with *another* language?
22:46:45fordcarsYeah, nothing special :P
22:47:02fordcarsSwift is an innovative new programming language for Cocoa and Cocoa Touch. Writing code is interactive and fun, the syntax is concise yet expressive, and apps run lightning-fast. Swift is ready for your next iOS and OS X project — or for addition into your current app — because Swift code works side-by-side with Objective-C.
22:47:26raptorinteresting
22:47:33raptoran Obj-C abstraction
22:47:51fordcarsI hear it's not too bad though
22:48:00fordcarsSome dude made Flappy Bird with it
22:48:02raptorit looks much better than Obj-whatever
22:48:22raptorlike... they've finally starting doing things that other languages have done for 15 years!
22:48:32fordcarsHaha
22:48:46fordcarsI guess they want iPhone apps to be made easily-er
22:48:54raptorwell good for them
22:49:00fordcars:P
22:49:09raptorif only they could be made easier with CMake!
22:49:20fordcarsHaha I don't think they want too
22:49:28fordcarsCan Linux cross-compile to Mac?
22:49:53raptorsure can
22:49:59raptorkaen even set it up with a buildbot
22:50:08fordcarsWhoa cool
23:00:54raptorooo swift doesn't need semi-colons!
23:02:31fordcarsNoooo
23:02:38fordcarsI love sem-colons
23:02:41fordcarsi
23:32:29raptorsemi-colons ARE EVIL
23:32:43raptorbut necessary since i'm a Java developer
