14:04:16raptorgood day! 1st day as a master
14:04:33raptor's student and I already feel less stressed than an undergrad
14:06:44bobdaduckCongratsulations!
14:11:30raptorthanks!
14:50:23watusimotoyou've gone from a customer to a slave. Congratulations.
14:54:11raptorit's so true
15:02:10raptorwatusimoto: sent you an e-mail about my NanoVG work so far
15:20:43watusimotogot it; just replied
15:34:23raptorhi
15:34:28raptori just replied again
17:07:54watusimotoso did I
17:08:18watusimotoI just got back from an office luncheon
17:12:45raptoryum?
18:28:10watusimotonot so much
18:28:21watusimotoI had clam chowder for the first time in decades
18:28:50watusimotoit got served just as I finished explaining why I hadn't eaten it for decades
18:29:17watusimotowhich involved a whale watching trip, a seasick woman, and a clear plastic cup
18:29:24watusimotoyup... my timing was perfect.
18:42:32raptorhah! lovely
18:46:18raptorso i think I can use nanovg to overcome the glortho problem
18:46:26watusimotooh yes?
18:47:11raptoryeah - they have matrix transformation methods, and if I just multiply the window matrix by the ortho one then I think I can do it
18:47:49raptorbut, they question is now if that is the 'proper' thing to do, since normally projection and model matrices are separate
18:48:43watusimotoso we;d be using the model matrix in lieu of a projection matrix...
18:50:07raptorwell... actually maybe it's OK. at the end of the day, it's just one matrix anyways
18:52:25watusimotothat's what I was thinking. There's right and wrong, of course, but what you're describing is not quite on the same plane as selling your son's soul for full-screen mode.
18:52:35raptorhaha
18:52:50watusimotomore like your own soul, and perhaps only a little bit of it
18:54:00watusimotowell, I'm excited to see what the code looks like
18:54:10raptora huge mess!
18:54:16raptorso...
18:54:22watusimotogreat!
18:54:51raptori thought i could just use our RenderManager abstraction and just hook into nanovg, but it has a little different code pathway in some instances
18:55:17watusimotobecause we set the matrices before calling rendermanager?
18:55:39raptorit's more like some nanovg calls require fewer opengl calls and some more
18:56:10raptorso a 1:1 api call didn't work out so well (that was the messed-up graphic i showed you a few days back)
18:57:11raptorso i'll have to get rid of the RenderManager class and put nanovg calls everywhere or put work into maintaining the abstraction layer in some odd manner
18:58:54watusimotoI like the abstraction layer, but on the other hand, if the nanovg code is clean enough, maybe we don't need it
18:59:07watusimoto"some odd manner"...
19:24:52bobdaduck Quit (Quit: Page closed)
19:47:42raptorit's funny - I totally get a lot of openGL matrix stuff now that I've been through my EM waves class where we had to transform matrices to predict waves in varous materials
19:47:52raptorget = understand
19:58:12watusimotohah yeah. matrix math. I could do it, but never really understood it on a fundamental level... like why we were doing it.
19:58:35watusimotoit took decades, but I finally get calculus. Not matrices, though.
20:05:33raptorif i could sum up most of electrical engineering math, it would be: try as hard as possible to make everything a combination of summing and multiplication (e.g. linear)
21:41:18KaadmYlol
