00:14:30raptormostly :)
00:14:56LoneWolfyyeah
00:15:04LoneWolfyso im trying to build bf on linux
00:15:06LoneWolfyhttp://pastebin.com/gFFJj0fP
00:15:15LoneWolfythat happens when i try to cmake it
00:15:51LoneWolfyim not quite sure if im missing a library or if the cmake thing itself isnt working
00:16:39raptorah ha!
00:16:43raptori've got those before
00:16:52raptorwhat linux distro are you using?
00:16:54LoneWolfysolus
00:17:41raptorinteresting - i've never used that one before
00:17:45raptordo you know how to install packages?
00:17:51LoneWolfyyeah
00:18:05LoneWolfysolus is a from-scratch distro so its not based on debian or anything
00:18:10LoneWolfythe package manager is eopkg
00:18:35raptorok good - do you see at the top of the cmake errors where it says "Could not find..."
00:18:53raptorfor each of those 'could not find...' you need to install the development headers
00:19:03LoneWolfyoh
00:19:20raptorso for OpenAL, you need a package that will be like openal-dev or openal-devel or something like that
00:19:26LoneWolfyhmm
00:19:36raptorand do that for each of the missing items
00:20:15LoneWolfyok
00:20:30raptorthen try CMake again
00:21:00raptoralso, you do not need to do 'sudo'... in fact it's probably best you don't
00:22:05LoneWolfyoh
00:22:15LoneWolfyi only tried that cause i thought it didnt have access to a directory or something
00:22:33LoneWolfyso i dont see a mysql package on eopkg, if i get sqlite or something will it still work?
00:22:57raptoryes, mysql is not mandatory
00:24:36raptorsince you used 'sudo' before you may need to re-extract bitfighter
00:38:04raptorI'm headed to bed. I'll be back tomorrow
00:38:08raptorgood night!
00:39:16raptoroh - ALURE is one that isn't needed either - it is built automatically. You'll also need SDL2-dev and opengl dev

11:33:07raptorfound an issue with nanovg - no real methods to draw point-arrays
11:33:12raptorat least that i can see
11:47:53raptorRATS: https://github.com/memononen/nanosvg/issues/76
16:11:45watusimotooohh... that's a bummer
16:12:19watusimotodo we have a lot of GL_POINTS calls that aren't going away with your new code?
16:12:38watusimoto(I don't have the code here)
16:20:50raptornot a ton, but several: explosions/stars
16:39:41watusimotoWe could probably do the stars with a pregenerated texture/svg
16:40:13watusimotoExplosions/sparks will be more tricky to replace, but maybe there's a way
16:41:16watusimotoI've wanted to toy with other (optional) backgrounds; moving to SVG might make that easier.
17:20:20watusimotoI'm heading out soon for a weekend off the internet; I read memononen's latest response, and I think he's right; let's think of a different way to render points. I'm really only worried about the sparks; there's a lot of them, and they're (individually) not very important. Maybe we can render them as very short lines; we already have a class of sparks that are lines, and maybe we can differentiate them by their length.
17:38:10raptoryeah, the core panel sparks can be done with lines

21:08:23LoneWolfyim back again
21:08:42LoneWolfyand i got it to compile correctly but now it doesnt start right - it cant launch the lua interpreter
22:07:02raptorhi
22:08:06raptorLoneWolfy: after you compile, the executable is in the 'exe' folder
22:08:17LoneWolfyyeah
22:08:25LoneWolfyexe/bitfighter
22:08:27raptoryou have to set up the folder right with the resources
22:08:31LoneWolfyoh
22:08:39raptorin that folder, run: touch standalone.txt
22:09:13LoneWolfyoh
22:09:17LoneWolfythat made it work
22:09:22LoneWolfythe wiki makes it look optional
22:09:27raptorah
22:09:35raptorhmmm
22:09:52raptormaybe there is a bug there
22:10:29raptorthat makes it so all resources stay in the 'exe' folder
22:11:33LoneWolfyah
22:11:48LoneWolfyit launched but theres no sound so im gonna poke around and see if theres something wrong on my end for that
22:12:55raptoroh also, since making it standalone you need to copy the resources into the 'exe' folder
22:13:14raptorcopy everything inside the 'resource' folder to the 'exe' folder
22:13:20raptorbut not the folder itself
22:13:27LoneWolfyohhh
22:13:27LoneWolfyok
22:15:19LoneWolfyuh
22:15:25LoneWolfythat didnt seem to help at all
22:16:06LoneWolfyhttps://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/158322208987545601/272202594321956874/unknown.png
22:16:19LoneWolfyalso all the texts that are dialog boxes or button prompts are just blank
22:23:18raptorthat means the fonts are missing
22:26:51raptorhere are the files in my exe folder: https://i.imgur.com/u9t5C6H.png
22:26:56raptorit should look like that
22:27:13raptoroops, and have the 'standalone.txt' file
22:50:49raptor Quit ()
23:46:49LoneWolfy Quit (Ping timeout: 255 seconds)
