Big Bitfighter Battle XI

It's been a while... so with out further ado:

BIG BITFIGHTER BATTLE

Date: Friday, April 4th 2014, 8:00pm - Midnight | Eastern Time

Rules:
  • Team wins will be determined by the final scoreboard that appears at the end of each game
  • Any player who changes teams will be disqualified for that game, unless his or her team is changed by an administrator
  • Free-for-all game types will only have one winner per game

Maps:
I need serious help with the map list. I do not have much time to put it together, so please offer map suggestions liberally.

We have a new pool to draw on from pleiades, now would be a good time to suggest maps from there that you always wished we played with more people.

Oldies but goodies are just as welcome.

Can we have someone actually recording this time -- the whole time? That would be excellent.

I plan on turning on the server game recorder which will track every player. Someone will have to make videos of them after the fact, focused on one of the players.

Re: Big Bitfighter Battle XI

If we go for four hours, we usually do about 40 maps, with 3 as break maps, and a few extra just-in-case. Traditionally, we done about the same number of maps for each game type with some a little less (Soccer) and some a little more (CTF).

We can change some of the traditions, of course. Any suggestions for map variety differences with this BBB?

Does the video have to focus on only one player? I think it would be cool if it switched between different players' perspectives.

Yes, sort of. But with the playback files, you can record runs focused on different players, then splice the video together how you like.

It would be (theoretically) possible to create a playback mechanism that switched between different players at different frames, but that would require some thought and work.

If we get some good quality video, I could try making another trailer that shows the newer interface.

Yeaaa buddy!!

(for those wondering, you can apparently access the full library by clicking on Search and not entering any terms) or through http://bitfighter.org/pleiades/levels/all

From Yoshi's list I recommend Retro Match, Phi (holy shit, kaen, that looks beautiful), and of course Foiled.

I saw a level called Maze Racer: the Battlefield by FBV -86. the concept is just have 2 teams, their cores at opposite ends. it looks decent.

I'm looking at Mazeracer myself now, if I can figure out how it works, then wham!

It might be fun to give some of FBV-86's maps a whirl. They can be pretty complex and crazy but with large numbers they might be a good time.

given that we don't ever do mazegen, I made a level which was inspired by FBV-86's use of mazegen

we should do both mine and FBV's (mine might be overcomplicated).

also yeah. lets do some FBV maps

Lines could be fun. From Skybax's new list, I heartily encourage Double Debris, Ducks Rock, Inca, Cretaceous Composure (with the red lined walls haha!), The Big Rooms. In case you're filtering these lists raptor and not just dumping them all ;)

Yeah lol the neutral ships are pretty pointless.

I've found they can be helpful as cover if your team is getting owned hard enough that you get backed up to your base. Then take out the enemy players and move forward again.
