Well hey, I'll try to keep the playlist short, lasting maybe an hour, so come squeeze a few games in if you can, and if you can't don't worry about it!

Thanks to everyone who played tonight! I had a little server trouble at first, but I appreciate folks sticking it out. Sam686 came through in a pinch and hosted the party playlist on his server, so thanks Sam!

To clarify the server situation, I do actually port forward before every party but it's hit or miss whether it actually works (or more likely, whether I get the right ports forwarded or not). In past parties, people are usually able to connect to the server no problem, it's just the server name that appears as "Ping Timed Out." In tonight's event a few of our new friends were bizarrely unable to connect to the server at all which is troubling. I apologize for the inconvenience and will definitely look into fixing this annoying issue!

Shoutout to our attendees:

Sam686, Nothing_Much, SilentPhoenix, Zejohntitor, Scrublorde

Upcoming events:

» Friday, Jan 9th at 9:00pm EST: Level Design Contest Party (1/2)!
» Saturday, Jan 10th at 8:00pm EST: Level Design Contest Party (2/2)!
» Friday, Jan 16th at 9:00pm EST: Resuming our weekly party programming. :) *Time and date tentative.

It was ok game, even though there weren't more then 5 players.

Some random stuff:

I was actually using 019d feature, "Host on server", when i was the host, so i was able to switch servers quickly in less then a minute. 019d is coming out in a few days, depending when Raptor (or somebody) can finish compiling and packaging this game for mac and linux.

My name sam686 wasn't showing on "Players Online" probably because i was using debug build of bitfighter, and one of our developers didn't like their name to be shown..

Blanked out the MOTD (message of the day) when I posted this, since this party is over. (EDIT: someone filled out a newer MOTD so thats good)

I think that for future parties, we should be running on a dedicated server, and we need to make sure sky_lark has sufficient access/knowledge if he is going to be running these. That will solve any connection issues, and, probably, reduce lag for everyone (except, perhaps, sky_lark!)

Should we host these events on the master, or a different server?

I agree, and I still intend to purchase my own dedicated server for use in hosting these parties! Just gotta get around to it sometime. :) This week I'll be running some tests to see if I can understand why the port forwarding failed, as there was a time long ago when it worked successfully and everything was awesome. Thanks for the offer, if I can't address port forwarding or can't find a reasonable server solution I'll definitely write you!

We didn't get through all the levels unfortunately, presumably due to the chaos of server downtime and switching servers. However the levels in the playlist were I think:

All the levels mentioned above + Geowar, Pressure Cooker, Spineball, Heatmap, Year of the Doge 2.0, Seek Out, Towers, Zeus, Phi, Retention Loss, Fishnet, Forcefield Crossing, Plumbing. Some of those levels might've been left out in the change to sam's server.

Swarmed was fun, it played well with only a couple of people (although I'm pretty sure sam went easy on me haha). Pathogen was great, such a visually nice level. Tubular was interesting, it seems like a fun level but is crazy difficult and a little unbalanced, make it easier to score and I'm sure it will be more fun.

If any of you want recorded gameplays from my server,
http://sam6.25u.com/bitfighter/record/
Look for the ones that have a date of 2014-12-31 from this party.
Also, don't bother with zero size empty files.
