Re: DEAR GOD!!

Several schools have bitfighter installed on their school computers. This would be a LAN (though not really LAN) party in a class.

Re: DEAR GOD!!

Haha nice catch Opti, those guys must've been fun to game with... ;)

I wonder if the Bitfighter tracker can differentiate between LAN and online players slightly, like giving disctint colored text to LAN players. The tracker can be a little misleading sometimes if it lists players who you can't actually play with.

Re: DEAR GOD!!

Actually this brings up another issue:

Should we always force game publishing to the master server? I.e. have an option to turn it off?

Re: DEAR GOD!!

It is awesome that some schools have Bitfighter on their computers. Maybe I could get my school to do the same 0.o

That literally doesn't work. Like, when you drop a weight, it's going to hit the ground, not start floating upwards into the sky. In the same way, online connections can't connect to LAN.

I could see some use for this, like if I simply wished to edit a level and didn't want people to think I was online and actively gaming. On the flip side, if I forgot about this "toggle" feature and left it off then it could be detrimental to me if I wanted to lurk and wait for players to connect.

I think LAN players should still show up in the tracker. If I was a student at that school, then I might be interested in knowing if a friend of mine was in the game. However, since it's misleading to the majority of players I still think colored or italicized text or something is necessary to help users differentiate.

If possible to specify, I don't think players inside of the level editor should appear in the tracker. 95% of the time a user testing a level is occupied and probably won't be thrilled about having someone else butt in and try to play.

Actually, it would be very easy if you port forward Zap's port. I wanted to try that out once, but I didn't :P I really should. Actually, I am going to try right now. Later dudes.
