Combine the two?
If you don't know, Steam is like iTunes for games. It's run by Valve who made stuff like Counter Strike, Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. There's a great selection and other stuff like chatting and achievements and such. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm sure it would be a great way to get extra players, especially with the free price tag and Mac & Windows compatibility.
The Wikipedia article states that there are over 1100 games and 25 million user accounts (there are always 1.5mil+ online). Assuming I did my math right, that's roughly 227,000 games per person.
OK, so we wouldn't get 227,000 players, but I'm sure we could snag quite a few. Nothing to lose...
