mp3 support

Hi,

I recently added mp3 support to Bitfighter (now that it's a free format); but I'm curious, would anyone use that feature?

Re: mp3 support

Oh awesome! I guess now it's going to be easier to import your own songs into Bitfighter, since it supports mp3?

Re: mp3 support

That's what I'm asking - would anyone use the new mp3 support in Bitfighter? All you'd have to do is dump your mp3s in the 'music' folder.

Re: mp3 support

The MP3 support will likely be used by someone who wants to modify bitfighter's music. But most people probably won't do that so IMO it won't be used much. Those who do can use the already-available formats.
What's the overhead of having MP3 support?

I've been wanting to add my own music for a while and I could never figure out the "already available" formats lol

Re: mp3 support

I think its value will go up if folks post the cool new tracks they find that are fun to jam to. I wouldn't really know where to look, but I'd be happy to install some mp3s that others enjoyed listening to while playing.

Bitfighter supports OGG (Vorbis) and WAV. It also supports "most of the major module formats" (.s3m, .xm, .it, .mod...) but this isn't very useful for us.

So just convert your music to OGG or WAV, using your media player, VLC, Audacity or whatever you have, or use one of them online converters.

OGG is a lossy format so converting your MP3s to OGG will further reduce the quality and/or increase the size. WAV can contain lossless audio so you won't loose any quality but just have a larger size.
This is why it's better if Bitfighter supports MP3.

MP3 support is much appreciated. It's going to be cool adding my own music lol.
