00:41:00CrazyLinuxNerdAre these (http://bitfighter.org/wiki/index.php?title=Programming_levelgens) the only levelgen:*() currently around? or is there any undocumented ones?
00:49:00CrazyLinuxNerdNevermind, I found the answer to my question in lualevelgenerator.cpp... :-)
00:56:00BFLogBot - Commit 87b5aadd6cb7 | Author: watusim...@bitfighter.org | Log: BIGFIX: undoing a drag from the dock now removes the item, rather than leaving it hanging behind the dock; also adds some debugging code that will be removed shortly

03:00:00karamazovapywhat does this tell you about our community...
03:00:00karamazovapyI finally checked my server log, and half of it is people trying to add craptons of s_bots all at once
03:00:00karamazovapyI have entire screens of Could not find bot file s_bot.bot
03:01:00CrazyLinuxNerdoh, you did what i did to disable them? (remove the bots)
03:01:00karamazovapyI think I just renamed that one
03:02:00CrazyLinuxNerdis it possible to not log those messages to a log?
03:02:00karamazovapyprobably
03:02:00CrazyLinuxNerdi think i saw something like that in the ini
03:02:00karamazovapysometimes I hate our community
03:02:00CrazyLinuxNerdhaha, no community is perfect...
03:03:00karamazovapythis one can be so stupid!
03:03:00CrazyLinuxNerdunless it's a community of zombies, that's just cool because you can shoot their heads off if they get you mad..
03:03:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah but bare in mind most are <15
03:04:00karamazovapyyeah, yeah, I know
03:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdtheir at the "know it all but know nothing" stage
03:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdeg, teens
03:04:00karamazovapyoh well. at least I have my own little walled-garden server.
03:05:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah, but personally i never look in logs.. xD but i have a window open all the time w/ log messages so.. yeah
03:05:00karamazovapywell my server is on a vps, and I don't maintain the connection
03:05:00karamazovapyso on occasion, I check the logs
03:06:00CrazyLinuxNerdoh, fair enough
03:06:00karamazovapyactually, some random "Chump" told me he didn't like my soccer maps, so I was curious if he was someone I knew
03:06:00karamazovapysince I like mine better than any other ones I've played
03:06:00CrazyLinuxNerdmy server isn't having much like (or my pc for that matter) yesterday it had a 30 minute power cut, and tonight the internet connection dropped...
03:06:00CrazyLinuxNerdmuch luck*
03:07:00CrazyLinuxNerdbut software wise everything is ok :-)
03:07:00CrazyLinuxNerdwhich reminds me i need a ups :/
03:08:00karamazovapyI'm pretty happy with mine. it's about 60 USD / year
03:08:00CrazyLinuxNerdthat the vps?
03:08:00karamazovapylots of space, lots of bandwidth
03:08:00karamazovapyyeah
03:08:00CrazyLinuxNerdwait wait, 60 a year? not month?
03:08:00karamazovapyyear
03:08:00karamazovapyhttp://quickweb.co.nz/
03:09:00CrazyLinuxNerdnot bad
03:09:00karamazovapyhttp://twitter.com/#!/quickwebhosting
03:10:00karamazovapyit's worked out pretty well overall
03:10:00karamazovapygood uptime
03:10:00CrazyLinuxNerdi've never had vps for anything, i have however had a dedicated :-)
03:11:00karamazovapyfor $5 / mo, it seemed silly not to do it
03:11:00CrazyLinuxNerdthat's expensive! (jokingly said)
03:11:00raptor has joined
03:11:00ChanServ sets mode +o raptor
03:12:00karamazovapyI figure I accidentally waste at least that much overtipping when I'm drunk
03:12:00sam686one problem of most vps is ut usually won't let you enable swap for more memory (especially if memlry is too limited)
03:12:00karamazovapyI haven't had any real problems
03:12:00raptorwhoa whoa - what an interesting time to join a channel...
03:12:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah, but for bitfighter i doubt memory will be a problem on modern servers
03:12:00raptorwhat about cow-tipping?
03:13:00karamazovapyzoomber got a super duper budget vps that didn't have enough memory
03:13:00raptorhaha
03:13:00karamazovapyit was like...$3 a month or something
03:13:00raptorthat's right
03:13:00raptorno swap
03:13:00CrazyLinuxNerdlmao
03:13:00raptorand to think swap is cheaper than RAM
03:13:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah but it's heavier on disks..
03:13:00karamazovapyyeah, instead of paying $6 a month for one decent vps, he got two really crappy ones for $3 each
03:14:00CrazyLinuxNerdwhat did he get? a vps with 64mb ram? xD
03:14:00karamazovapymiiiiiiight have been 128 with no swap
03:14:00CrazyLinuxNerdwow.. no wonder he ran out..
03:14:00CrazyLinuxNerdlinux is light, but not that light..
03:14:00karamazovapyget what you pay for
03:14:00CrazyLinuxNerdunless you very finely tune it
03:14:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah
03:15:00karamazovapywell, and it was when he was just starting to get into the hosting stuff, so he certainly didn't know how to reduce memory overhead
03:15:00sam686one is 256 MB, that seem to go down a lot, sometimes crash, it just can't get an uptime of more then about 10 days...
03:15:00CrazyLinuxNerdsounds like it has a memory leak somewhere
03:16:00sam686the other is 384 MB that have quite a bad CPU ticks that when running bitfighter server causes some pauses during firing stuff...
03:16:00karamazovapyI think it was just a bad investment
03:16:00sam686the third one is 512 MB that seems to do very good with hosting bitfighter...
03:16:00CrazyLinuxNerdit could also be that they were "overselling" eg, to many vps on one server..
03:17:00CrazyLinuxNerdthat's why i always used to get a full dedicated for whatever i needed to do, because the only sucker on that machine is you (or should be)
03:18:00raptoroh wow, watusimoto pushed 17 changesets
03:18:00CrazyLinuxNerdis that all? :p
03:19:00sam686dedicated is often better then VPS for a few reasons (allows swap, faster hard disk access, multiple CPU cores...)
03:19:00CrazyLinuxNerdyup
03:19:00karamazovapy$5 a month. game, set, and match.
03:21:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah but for now, my old machine (which you can see here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/23947015/P1010001.JPG) will be running my bitfighter server lol. (black 1 with skull on top)
03:21:00sam686however, server location (doesn't matter about vps / dedicated) can often make a big difference of players ping...
03:21:00karamazovapy...so bitfighter got picked by reddit playdate again...
03:21:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah
03:21:00raptorwhat!?
03:22:00karamazovapyyeah, it's been on the tap for several days now
03:22:00karamazovapyI don't think that community is as vibrant as sky seems to think
03:22:00karamazovapyCLICK? you bought that?
03:23:00karamazovapyno accounting for taste...
03:23:00raptorTo be honest, I've always thought much of reddit was a cespool

03:24:00karamazovapyPxtl<== 1 point 1 day ago
03:24:00karamazovapyI really wanted to like Bitfighter... but it seems like all the maps people were playing were massively overdone messes.
03:24:00raptorhaha!
03:24:00karamazovapyONLY comment about bitfighter
03:25:00CrazyLinuxNerdover done messes? ha. Not all of them are like that (just all of mine :p)
03:26:00karamazovapyI'd say that's a fair criticism
03:26:00CrazyLinuxNerdlol
03:26:00karamazovapythere are a lot of really terrible maps
03:27:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah, any map with an i* device on them is terrible :p
03:27:00karamazovapyand there are even more that aren't really terrible, but aren't good
03:27:00karamazovapyi* device?
03:27:00CrazyLinuxNerd* as in wild card, like iphone, ipod, ikick, isex etc
03:28:00karamazovapyI don't remember playing any iSex bitfighter levels
03:28:00CrazyLinuxNerdhahaha
03:28:00CrazyLinuxNerdmaybe i should make one.. lol kidding
03:28:00karamazovapybetter iSex than eye-sex
03:28:00CrazyLinuxNerdlol
03:28:00karamazovapyanyway, I'm gonna watch mythbusters and head to bed
03:29:00karamazovapysee y'all later
03:29:00CrazyLinuxNerdalright cya dude
03:39:00CrazyLinuxNerdYES!!! finally the left routes are seperately generated from the righthand routes on my new map and it's working :-)
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdbut does it work...
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdyup :-)
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdLevel Information:
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdGrid Size: 400
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdPlayer Count: 1
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdLeft Route ID: 3
03:40:00CrazyLinuxNerdRight Route ID: 5
03:46:00sam686the bottom scrolling in bitfighter main menu just says: "Welcome to Bitfighter" where that usually says some incoming events, like big bitfighter battle..
03:47:00sam686maybe there could be some in-bitfighter-lobby /setannouncement thing to change that scrolling announcements that is limited to only a selected few authenticated players...
03:47:00sam686where master config only stores a list of users: AnnounceMentChanger=raptor, sam686, ...
03:47:00raptorwhere is that announcement set? in the master server?
03:48:00sam686right now, it can only be set by changing master config file..
03:59:00raptorlet me send an e-mail to watusimoto requesting him to mention the BBB
04:04:00sam686it might be a little late to change that scrolling thing announcements... only one day left until big battle (i don't think watuaimoto will be up until after 6 hours maybe)
04:04:00raptorwait, what day is it?
04:04:00CrazyLinuxNerd5th
04:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdwait no
04:04:00raptorthursday?
04:04:00CrazyLinuxNerd3rd here
04:04:00sam686friday, i think..
04:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdoh the event? yeah 4th
04:05:00sam686Friday night, November 4th from 8:00 pm - Midnight Eastern time it says for BBB

13:49:00raptoryeah, i'm sure that's him

13:51:00sam686i might think that random letters and random numbers might have been caused by net split stuff (as if you join a net splitted server as a same name)

13:57:0036DAAM3KXlooks like I'm stick with this for now
13:57:00CrazyLinuxNerdsam686: fixed issue..
13:57:00sam686kicking Watusimoto won't work as that client will still be connected and can't use that name
13:57:00raptorwe've got three of you now
13:58:0036DAAM3KXI;ll quit out of here in a minute and try again, but since CrazyLinuxNerd is here I'll answer the question about the betas
13:58:0036DAAM3KXthat I saw in this window when I turned my machine on
13:58:0036DAAM3KXnot sure when he asked it
13:58:0036DAAM3KXbut I've found that betas don't generally do well
13:59:0036DAAM3KXbecause the game only really works if lots of people are playing the same version; by going to a beta, it splits the community, and the whole game suffers
13:59:00CrazyLinuxNerd36DAAM3KK: Ah, ok I see your point :-)
14:01:0036DAAM3KXI think it's better to do a release and be ready to do a rerelease to fix bugs
14:01:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah, i suppose in a way, that could work better
14:01:00raptorbesides - it;s not like we're at 1.0 yet :]
14:01:00CrazyLinuxNerdah, who needs 1.0...
14:02:0036DAAM3KXthe key is not to start any new features that make a immediate rerelease difficult
14:02:00CrazyLinuxNerdmaybe you should go from v016a to v2.0
14:02:0036DAAM3KXwe're at 16.0!
14:02:0036DAAM3KXlooked at the usage graphs -- over 40 players 2 days in a row
14:02:00CrazyLinuxNerdoh lol
14:02:0036DAAM3KX!!
14:02:00raptori've always thought of us at 0.016
14:03:0036DAAM3KXwell, I decided to do my own style of numbering system
14:03:0036DAAM3KXnot 16.0, not 0.16 or .0016... it's just 016
14:03:00CrazyLinuxNerdi thought you was at 016a... xD
14:03:0036DAAM3KXthe abc designators are generally to mean that they are compatible with oneanother
14:03:00sam686there is 015, and 015a
14:03:00sam686016 is not out yet
14:03:0036DAAM3KXso 015 clients can play with 015a
14:04:0036DAAM3KXbu tnot with 014 or 016
14:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdah, i have only 015a and 016 I think
14:04:0036DAAM3KXand you built 016 yourself
14:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdcorrect
14:04:00CrazyLinuxNerdi ain't afraid to go compile some source code ;)

18:55:00CrazyLinuxNerdah ok, it's just i need to know and sort it out for my timezone so i know when it is, relative to me :-)
18:56:00CrazyLinuxNerdokay, sorted :-) for me it starts at..
18:56:00CrazyLinuxNerd08:00:00 p.m. Friday November 4, 2011 in US/Eastern converts to
18:56:00CrazyLinuxNerd12:00:00 Midnight Friday November 4, 2011 in Europe/London
18:56:00CrazyLinuxNerdi can make that easily :-)
18:57:00raptorsounds like your normal conscious hours...

19:18:00CrazyLinuxNerdraptor: may, or may not be of interest to you but Fedora 16 has been declaired gold... (see here: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test-announce/2011-May/000245.html)
19:18:00CrazyLinuxNerdwrong link
19:18:00CrazyLinuxNerdlol
19:18:00CrazyLinuxNerdlet me find #16's....
19:19:00CrazyLinuxNerdhttps://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test-announce/2011-November/000338.html
19:19:00CrazyLinuxNerdthat
19:21:00raptoroh good
19:22:00CrazyLinuxNerddeclared*
19:22:00raptorlet me see if the Open Build Service has a timeline on when it'll be imported... then I can build bitfighter for it!
19:22:00CrazyLinuxNerdi haven't seen anything on it lately, but i haven't looked
19:23:00raptori'm sure it'll be a week or two..
19:23:00CrazyLinuxNerdif it's in fedora test-list i could of missed it, it's a pretty high volume list (i get tons of emails from it per day..)
19:23:00CrazyLinuxNerd+ centOS lists and xfce list etc.. haha :/
19:23:00CrazyLinuxNerdit's easy for me to miss things
19:25:00raptorhttp://fedoraproject.org/
19:25:00raptor5 days until official release
19:25:00CrazyLinuxNerdfor #16?
19:25:00raptorfor fedora 16, yes
19:26:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah ,it's nov 8th i believe
19:26:00raptormost distros release a week early internally, then they work on documentation for a bit
19:26:00CrazyLinuxNerdindeed, that's why you can get rc's etc all before fedora's release, plus bare in mind, they got to seed them out to mirrors etc.
19:27:00CrazyLinuxNerdfedora being declaired gold now, probably means it'll start syncing to mirrors soon, watch out for a leak...
19:27:00raptorha! linux can't really be 'leaked'...
19:28:00raptorit's always very leaky
19:28:00CrazyLinuxNerdyeah, but they manage it...
19:29:00CrazyLinuxNerdi remember once fedora had all their .torrent files leaked :-D. Then turns out, that people who grabbed leaked had to download another .torrent after anyway due to a broken iso or something..
19:29:00CrazyLinuxNerdbest part of fedora, you can guarantee something will be broken that was fine in the last release..
19:31:00CrazyLinuxNerdbots are back on forum.. is sam playing w/ his script he made earlier again?
